Fivcap India Advisors Private Limited is the sponsor and manager of the Fund. 5 Rivers brings together some of India's leading lawyers backed by the foremost legal finance. 5 Rivers Capital Fund I is the first Alternative Investment Fund regulated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India to launch in India to invest in legal finance assets.

Investment philosophy

The firm's investment process is built on independent legal assessment, financial discipline, and deep alignment with the parties it funds. Litigation finance delivers returns driven by legal outcomes rather than market cycles, making it one of the few truly uncorrelated alternative asset classes available to institutional investors. Returns are event-driven: unaffected by interest rates, inflation, or equity market volatility. The firm evaluates every matter against four core criteria. Not all criteria need to be met perfectly, but a strong case will typically satisfy most of these. The claim must have compelling legal merits assessed by qualified counsel. Minimum claim value is typically US$15 million (approximately ₹125 crore). A successful outcome must be enforceable against a creditworthy counterparty. The firm prioritises matters that can be resolved within five years from the date of its investment. If the case is unsuccessful, the client owes nothing: no repayment, no interest, no liability.
