About Buoyant Capital

Buoyant Capital is a SEBI-registered alternative investment manager built around one belief: investment success comes from understanding businesses, valuations and market cycles, not simply owning good companies. Buoyant does not levy entry loads, exit loads, set up fees or have a lock-in. For Buoyant, investors always come first. The firm was founded in 2016.

Investment philosophy

Nothing of consequence moves in straight lines. Markets, sectors and businesses all move in cycles. Investor expectations often assume a linear world, where growth compounds steadily and markets reward it consistently. Reality is different. Capital flows, valuations and expectations expand and contract over time, creating cycles that shape investment outcomes. Recognising these cycles is at the heart of how Buoyant invests. Buoyant's portfolios are built around a dynamic balance between Core and Satellite investments. Core holdings provide long-term stability through businesses with durable fundamentals, while Satellite positions allow the firm to express conviction in emerging opportunities created by changing market cycles. During favourable environments, Buoyant seeks to increase exposure to emerging opportunities. As risks build and valuations become demanding, managing risk becomes increasingly important.

He has previously worked with institutions such as HSBC Capital Markets and Kotak Institutional Equities. Prior to founding Buoyant, Jigar was the Director of Research at HSBC, advising top global funds on investing in India.

Viral has over 26 years of equity research and investing experience, covering Information Technology, FMCG and retailing, Real estate, and Oil & Gas. He has previously worked with Nippon Asset Management, Nippon Life Insurance, and TCS. Previously, Viral was the Chief Investment Officer at Nippon Life Insurance, running over USD 3 billion in equity and debt assets.
