Cat II · Managed by Weikfield
Private equity, private credit and real-estate funds that don't employ leverage except for operating needs. The largest AIF category.
Weikfield RE Estates 1 LLP (SEBI Reg. IN/AIF2/13-14/0058) is one of India's earliest Category II AIFs, registered in June 2013, and is unusual in its structure: the LLP itself acts as the AIF, making it a self-managed vehicle rather than one with a separate investment manager. Incorporated on 14 August 2012 (LLPIN: AAB-0682), the LLP is associated with the Weikfield group — a prominent Pune-based conglomerate founded by the late Shri S. P. Malhotra, with roots in food manufacturing, real estate, and agri-business. The group's real estate portfolio, showcased at weikfield.com/real-estate/, spans projects across Pune and Maharashtra including Platinum Square (Viman Nagar), Vascon Weikfield Chambers (Viman Nagar), Godrej Castlemaine (Pune Station), Windsor Park (Panchgani–Mahabaleshwar Road), and land parcels along the Mumbai–Pune Expressway and Pune–Ahmednagar Highway. The fund's designated partners include Mukesh Satpal Malhotra and Akshay Mukesh Malhotra of the Weikfield family, alongside Naushad Darius Forbes (co-chairman, Forbes Marshall), Jamshed Byram Jeejeebhoy, Pheroz Naswanjee Pudumjee, and Salman Yusuf Noorani — reflecting the consortium character of this early-generation real estate AIF. The LLP continues to file financial statements (last filed for FY ending December 2024), indicating it remains active.
